Quartzite
Quartzite is a hard, natural, luxurious stone available in a range of colors. With durability and heat-resistance similar to granite it is ideal for high traffic areas, such as kitchens. This stone is a good substitute for marble due to its movement and personality that mimics the look of marble, without the upkeep. Quartz and quartzite are two distinct materials: quartz is man-made and quartzite is naturally occurring.

Advantages
Quartzite is naturally strong and durable with heat-resistant qualities. It is also resistant to UV rays and weathering, making it suitable for outdoor use. This stone also requires less maintenance than a material like marble.
Disadvantages
Quartzite requires regular sealing to avoid staining and etching. Quartzite is a heavy stone – cabinets and support structures will need to be strong enough to withstand the weight.
Maintenance
Quartzite countertops require an initial seal following installation, and a yearly sealing is recommended for continued maintenance. Similar to other natural stones, spills should be cleaned immediately to prevent staining or water damage.
