Quartz is an engineered solid surface in a variety of designs and finishes. Quartz is durable, with strength comparable to granite, and is easily maintained. Quartz can have many designs and color options that closely mimic granite and marble. Some quartz countertops come with a lifetime warranty.

Advantages

  • Non-porous and resistant to staining.

  • No sealing required.

  • Highly durable and fairly scratch-resistant.

  • Available in a wide range of colors and patterns.

Disadvantages

  • Can discolor with UV exposure; not ideal for outdoor use.

  • Sensitive to high heat.

  • Some finishes and colors may stain or scratch more easily.

Maintenance

Quartz’s nonporous surface makes it low maintenance. Clean countertops with water and a mild soap or detergent. A 50-50 mixture of water and white vinegar can be used as a natural alternative.
