Advantages

Travertine is highly resistant to wear and tear with proper maintenance and care. Travertine can withstand harsh weather conditions. Can be cost-effective.

Disadvantages

Because travertine is porous it can be susceptible to staining and etching from acidic substances, so it will need to be sealed and cleaned with pH-neutral products.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance is essential. This includes cleaning spills quickly with pH-neutral cleaners and having sealants reapplied every one to three years.
